Who are you modeling your life after?

Have you seen those magizines in the store about all these celebrities that are about break-ups and being pregnant and being dumped by guys and all that kind of stuff? There is alot of trash all over magizines and is influencing our already sinful culture like crazy! You hear about celebrities doing tons of bad things and making bad choices and people dying from drug over-doses. And yet these are the people we seem to admire and lift up and model our lives after? We say, "I love her, (or him) she (or he) is so awesome!" Seriously? Now, I don't want to offend anyone, but this is the truth. We, as young, Christian girls, should be modeling our lives after number one, Jesus Christ, and also other young, Christian women that are serving the Lord and making good choices and have good chraracter. I am going to tell you right now that we need to STOP praising and glorifying all of these ungodly celebrities. Examples of celebs that we seem to praise and like: Kim Kardashian, Hayden Panniteare, Megan Fox, Jessica Simpson, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale, Mariah Carey, Leah Michelle, Katy Perry, Christina Auguilara, Audrina Partridge,Annalyn MCcord, Selina Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, Miranda Cogsgrove, Miranda Lambart (now Shelton because of marriage to country singer), Hillary Duff, Jennifer Annisten, Miley Cyrus, Jordan Sparks, Kelly Clarkson, Candice Accola, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Rihanna, Kristen Bell, Reese Witherspoon, Amber Heard, Angelina Jole, Carrie Underwood and tons more! Yes, thats's right, above I mentioned Selena Gomez, Miranda Cogsgrove, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale, and Carrie Underwood. You might say, "Wait a minute. They're not that bad.. They are definately not the worst. They look pretty good in the public eye." Well, they're not the worst, but they are NOT even close to the best. We have got to STOP settling! God doesn't want us to say, "Oh, she's not too bad." No! God wants us to go for the best! And none of the celebritites fit that definition. I am not critisizing, I am merely saying that I don't think we should follow their examples glorify them and admire them. Instead, we should pray for them! We are letting these people influence our lives and compromise our convictions. Do you honestly think Jesus is happy about the choices those celebs are making or the choices  we are making to choose to follow and lift these celebrities up? Certainly not. These celebrities that we all seem to admire are lost and we need to pray for them instead of glorifying them. In Philippians, it says to think on things that are pure, noble, lovely, just etc. That applies to people too. So before we decide to want to be like someone who is not the best influence on us, we should discern their character first. Another thing we seem to do is look at someone and say, "She's gorgeous!" and we start making an idol after that person. Now, we may not be realizing what we're doing, but it is. Whatever consumes our minds, thoughts and what we say all the time and something that we glorify is basically an idol. We get  so carried away with outward appearances that we totally fail to notice their ungodly character. Be cautious and careful and full of discernment, discretion, and wisdom when it comes to modeling our life after someone. Remember, we should model our life after Christ and His word! Make it a goal to be more like Christ everyday.
